Exhibition: Parallel Visions
Saturday 3rd August
Every Saturday and Sunday 11am - 5pm
Parallel Visions by Lesley Wootton and Jane Farrington.
These two mixed media artists have work which is uncannily complementary, often with a surreal or tongue-in-cheek element
Following the compilation of a ‘time-line’ of her back catalogue for an artist friend during a creative conversation, Lesley recognised recurrent themes reflecting emotions and experiences albeit encased in landscape subjects which went back years. She has picked up on these themes creating paintings, collages, painted furniture and boxes which reveal an emotional or experiential journey expressed in paint.
Jane explores The Magical World of Theatre and Performance to create imagery using combinations of mixed media, drawing and collage. These qualities are reflected in her unusual pieces which are inspired by the traditions of Theatre and Pantomime.
Her lifelong passion for collecting theatrical objects, toys, puppets and masks and costume have been a constant influence on her work.
Jane is drawn to the theatrical worlds that exist both historically and Magically … where the onlooker can catch a glimpse to what lies …. Behind the Curtain.
Free entrance. As always, the Reading Room Café will also be open, serving drinks and homemade food with a warm welcome for all.
