Workshop: Gregorian Chant - The Joy of Singing
Saturday 21st September
9:30am - 5pm
Led by John Rowlands-Pritchard
An inclusive day course for singers and also for those with interests in the history of music, theology, meditation, and cultural history.
The distinctive chant notation will be explained, and all will have practical experience of original Gregorian chants celebrating the joy of singing, and of reciting together with others the straightforward music of the short monastic ‘Hour’ services.
A course booklet is given to each participant containing all the chant to be used. The course uses English texts as well as Latin. Singing experience in choral society or church choir is welcome though not necessary - former participants considering themselves not to be singers have surprised and enjoyed themselves by simply joining in.
Course cost is £35 (£30 Early Bird price if booked before 31st August)
