Hail and Farewell!
These are exciting and at the same time poignant times at Bleddfa.
Poignant because at the end of the month Sarah Pearson retires as Bleddfa Centre Manager. She, together with her family and tribe of devoted supporters and admirers, have done so much to make Bleddfa the friendly, welcoming place it is. We wish her a richly deserved break and some time at last to attend to her wonderful hillside garden in Llangunllo. We also look forward to welcoming her back to enjoy future events without having to organise them!
Exciting times – because stepping into the role of Centre Manager is Annie Vickerstaff. Annie will be known to many readers of this blog for her pivotal role in coordinating and marketing the recent Marches Makers festival. Before that, for many years she brought her organisational skills and energy to being a Health Trainer with the NHS. But that tells only part of the story. Annie, it seems, can turn her hand to anything – cabinet making, house-renovation and we hear that she has even entered herself for next month’s World Bog Snorkelling Championships at Llanwrtyd Wells where she will be raising money for Spana, a charity providing veterinary care to working animals. We just hope she survives!
Finally, we are delighted to welcome Jo King to a new and crucial role as Programme and Development Director. More about Jo and her plans for 2020 in the next Newsletter. That’s more than enough excitement for now …
Warm (but not too warm) summer greetings to everyone – and thank you once again, Sarah, for all you have done.
